Seashell Diagram Stitch

Hi! There’s something comforting about learning a new stitch, like pressing pause on a busy day and letting your hands do the talking. This one was simple and has a rhythm I think you’ll like.

Let’s get into it!

Starting Row

Step 1: Start by making a ch in (multiples of 6) 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 54, 60, 66, 72, 78, 84, 90, 96... - 1 until desired length, Add 6 more ch (3 counts as the first dc + 3 more). From the 12th stitch from hook.
Step 2: Make a cluster (dc, ch 1, dc) in the same st, chain 3 and skip 5 sts.
Step 3: Repeat step 2 until you have 5 sts left on the row and dc in the last.

Row 2

Step 4: Chain 5, sc in the ch 3 space, chain 2.
Step 5: (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch 1 space (the center of the cluster), ch 2, sc in next ch 3 space, ch 2.
Step 6: Repeat step 5 across. End with dc in top of turning ch.

Row Repeat

To continue the pattern, ch 6 (counts as 1 dc + ch 3) and repeat Row 3, followed by Row 4:

Row 3

Step 1: Chain 6 (counts as 1 dc + ch 3).
Step 2: Make a cluster (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch 1 space (the center of the cluster), chain 3 and skip 5 sts.
Step 3: Repeat step 2 until you have 5 st left on the row and dc in the last.

Row 4

Step 4: Chain 5, sc in the ch 3 space, chain 2.
Step 5: (dc, ch 1, dc) in next ch 1 space (the center of the cluster), ch 2, sc in next ch 3 space, ch 2.
Step 6: Repeat step 5 across. End with dc in top of turning ch.

That’s all for today’s stitch. If you try it, I’d love to know, you can tag me @catsyarniverse. I’ll be here tomorrow with another stitch and probably the same half full mug of tea I forgot about. Until then, have a nice day!
