Petal Lace Stitch
This airy and elegant stitch creates floral, petal-like clusters with open spaces in between.
Starting Chain
Chain a multiple of 8 + 2, turn.
Start in the 2nd chain from hook and place 1 sc.
Row 1
Ch 1, skip 3 sts.
Work a 3-double cluster: (yo, insert hook, draw up loop) × 3, yo, pull through all 7 loops, ch 2. In the same stitch do another 3-double cluster, ch 2 and another 3-double cluster.
Ch 1, skip 3 sts, sc in the next st.
Ch 1, skip 3 and work in the same stitch (3-double cluster, ch 2, 3-double cluster, ch 2, 3-double cluster), ch 1, skip 3 and sc — repeat across.
Ch 2, turn.
Row 2
Dc in the first sc.
Ch 2, sc in the middle cluster, ch 2 and work (3 dc) on the next sc — repeat across.
In the last sts do 2 dc.
Ch 3, turn.
Row 3
In the first stitch, work: (hdc, ch 2, 3-double cluster).
Ch 1, skip 3 and sc in the next st (on top of the sc).
Continue with: ch 1, skip 3, [3-double cluster, ch 2, 3-double cluster, ch 2, 3-double cluster] in one stitch, ch 1, skip 3, sc — repeat across.
When 4 sts remain: work (3-double cluster, ch 2, dc) in the turning chain.
Ch 1, turn.
Row 4
Sc in the first st.
Ch 2, work 3 dc on the sc, ch 2, sc in the center cluster — repeat across.
End with a sc on top of the hdc from the previous round.
Ch 1, turn.
Pattern Repeat
Repeat Rows 1 to 4 for desired length.
